Yes, REI is a gear store. However, REI’s “Expert Advice” articles are detailed and exceptionally helpful. The articles cover a wide range of topics of interest to hikers and backpackers, including outdoor skills and trailcraft, choosing gear and clothing, and, of course, gear reviews. Most of the articles will benefit beginners, but many are worthwhile as reminders for more experienced trekkers. (5/16/24)
